I’ll be speaking at Craft Meets Code, the 75th Anniversary Symposium of the Metal Arts Guild of San Francisco, October 17, 2026 in Berkeley, California!

Here’s the topic, which I’m super excited to present!!!

Over her three decade career, Victoria Lansford has dedicated herself to jewelry and metalwork that makes the past present. Her innovative use of historically rich metalsmithing techniques such as filigree, granulation, and Eastern repoussé rests on a groundwork of rigorous research, practical experimentation, and developing connections with both trained experts and unconventional teachers. 

In her talk, Victoria takes the audience behind the scenes of her practice to explore the how and why of her engagement with history, as well as how she uses research to inform her contemporary artwork. She’ll share her experience of what succeeds and surprises, as well as how her work combines ancient metalsmithing with 21st-century technology to open new doors for contemporary makers.

I’ll also be participating in a panel discussion at the end with fellow presenters Jennifer Altman and Doug Bucci, and moderated by Curtis Arima.

On October 18th I’m teaching Great-Granulation, an in-person, one-day workshop at Silvera Jewelry School in conjunction with the Symposium.
