Welcome!

In this time of unprecedented anxiety and separation, I’d like to offer some worldwide togetherness and help.

The Lansford Family Anvil
My great-grandfather’s anvil

While I’m on lockdown and healthy, I’m opening up my studio via Zoom on Friday, March 20 at 5pm EDT. There will be time for some tech/design Q&A and a bit of camaraderie. I’ll also take requests for brief demos on demand that I’ll do live at my workbench.

So if you’re not thrilled about working in isolation, wondering how to go about something technical, have a design question, are just interested in how we metalsmiths make stuff, or are just looking for a little collective creative oasis in the storm, come on in!

Makers and non-makers welcome!

Warning: My studio may or may not be cleaned up by then, and you’ll likely catch me in my studio-uniform-yoga-pants.

Let’s huddle in my studio…virtually!

When: March 20 from 5:00-6:30pm EDT

If you’ve never used Zoom, it will ask to use/install their app when you click on the link to join. Just click yes or ok to their series of pop-up boxes, and you’ll end up in the virtual meeting room. I promise it is totally safe. Many other professionals and I have reliably used this free platform.

Maybe get there a few minutes early if you’ve never used Zoom. Their app is on the Apple App Store, Google Play, etc. If you click the meeting link, it will take you through downloading the app first.

What to bring: Your fabulous self!
Any device with an internet connection that supports video. Macs/PC, iPad, tablet, iPhone, Android, etc.

Optional: Favorite portable artwork you own or have made
The calming beverage of your choice
Party hat

A calming beverage! Thank to Katie DiGiovanna for capturing this moment a few weeks ago

My Zoom account allows up to 100 people, so this is first come, first served.

If you can’t make it, the meeting will be recorded and uploaded to my site so you can watch it later. If all goes well, and there is demand, I might do more.

Where: Zoom
Click the link to get into the meeting.

Meeting ID: 138 162 527

Topic: Welcome to My Worldwide Open Studio!
Time: Mar 20, 2020 05:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)

Join Zoom Meeting by clicking this link and saying ‘yes’ to Zoom’s prompts. If you’ve never used it before, Zoom will ask you to download their app. It’s safe, I promise!

Click the gallery view to see everyone on the video call.

It probably won’t look this neat when you get here!

TROUBLESHOOTING: Once you’ve set up ZOOM, make sure both video and audio are activated on settings; to see everyone on our screen, choose gallery view.

If you’ve said yes to all Zoom’s prompts, and you can’t get into the meeting or something seems amiss, keep a lookout for an email from me. If you need to reach me, email me at victoria@victorialansford.com

See You in My Studio in an Hour!
Victoria Lansford

Victoria Lansford is an artist and educator who combines historical metalsmithing and illumination processes with cutting edge technology to create contemporary interpretations of centuries-old craft forms. With a creative career spanning over 30 years, her genre-busting and award-winning art explores feminine power and ranges in scale from intricate art jewelry and miniatures to architectural metalwork.

What Others Are Saying

A gift to find both the artist and the work so inspiring

"I briefly survey a wide variety of newsletters, but rarely read more than the preview text above the fold so to speak.
You, on the other hand, are solidly, beautifully, and with great respect for your audience, delivering “The Goods” with every newsletter. And on a topic that is very much my central thing. - The journey of bringing your own soul's beauty and truth into form to share with others.
Thank you for your generosity of the creative spirit! It’s a gift to find both the artist and the work so inspiring.”
