These earrings, along with a few other pieces from the same period, were inspired by Ella Fitzgerald’s version of the song, “Midnight Sun,” composed by Lionel Hampton and Sonny Burke in 1947 with lyrics later written by Johnny Mercer in 1954. I have a deep love of jazz songs written in a minor key and on a descending scale.

Named for the sultry jazz tune with lyrics by Johnny Mercer, their sparkle will add a touch of glamour without leaving you singing the weighty blues. Glistening Flames
$1,850.00Glistening Flame is part of the Celestial Collection, inspired by my passion for astronomy and my love for twinkling stars amidst dark skies. The Russian filigree elements were created with platinum enhanced sterling for the frames and pure silver for the indivually formed filler wires. The dangling chalcedony drusies have been vacuum bonded with titanium to create the blue color and enhance their uniquely faceted brilliance. They are set in platinum-enhanced sterling bezels.

Into the Depth III
$470.00Earrings of Eastern repousse patterned mokume gane with French tools
sterling silver, fine silver, copper, shibuichi, carnelianThese earrings are very lightweight! To create their unusual surface design, I blended the ancient technique of Eastern repoussé with the Japanese technique of mokume gane. I did all of the free-hand hammering with unpatterned mokume gane, a fused sheet made from layers of sterling, copper, and shibuichi. Once I had finished the Eastern repoussé, I ground the surface hammer marks to expose the resulting cross section of the different metals. The richness of the patina adds to the glow of the carnelian cabochons.
