Watch My New Free Online Class – How (Not) to Take a Class on Zoom

Current Projects / Inspiration / Instructional videos / Teaching / Videos / Workshops

Since living in captivity, I’ve literally had World-Wide Shiny Workshop Syndrome. From Creative Morning’s fabulous and free Field Trips to Sketchbook Revival’s stellar offerings, Sketchbook Skool’s live workshops, Alyson Stanfield’s Art Biz Coach development workshops, Wendy Hollender’s Draw Botanical live workshops, to Loredana Zega’s weekly and utterly unique calligraphy classes, and much much more, I’ve relished all the info and especially the welcome distraction from world-worry to creativity. I’ve even played a character in Mystery at Boddy Mansion, a virtual mystery dinner experience created by Cortney Matz. Everything has been on Zoom or a similar platform.

As I develop my own online courses, I’m super cognizant of the participants’ experiences as much as the instructors’. My husband has been in a number of workshops as well. We’ve been aware of how frustrated and panicked people get when they have difficulty navigating both the tech aspect and the new-to-most ettiequte of having the world show up in your home office, living room, or studio.

All this gave me the idea to create an online orientation video to help people navigate these issues and more. I contacted some super smart and fun colleagues, and together we created my most informative (and entertaining) instructional video to date. When do you mute/unmute? Where on a phone or an iPad do you find the close up camera in a demo? And most of all, how to have a really really good laugh!!!

If you’re a Zoom pro, you’ll probably appreciate it as much as a newbie might…for very different reasons.

Can’t see the video? Watch in your browser here or on YouTube here https://youtu.be/asA9JQjcU8w

Special thanks to my stellar cast! Please check out their great online offerings of classes, tools, and more.

What Others Are Saying

A gift to find both the artist and the work so inspiring

"I briefly survey a wide variety of newsletters, but rarely read more than the preview text above the fold so to speak.
You, on the other hand, are solidly, beautifully, and with great respect for your audience, delivering “The Goods” with every newsletter. And on a topic that is very much my central thing. - The journey of bringing your own soul's beauty and truth into form to share with others.
Thank you for your generosity of the creative spirit! It’s a gift to find both the artist and the work so inspiring.”
