When it comes to Small Business Saturday, it doesn’t get much smaller than this one-woman studio! Your support makes it possible to keep the lights on, the acetylene tank filled, and the inspiration I need to keep making art. Seriously!
Ok, so when it comes to small, I could make a crack about being barely 5’2”. For years after I released my videos, people I met often immediately blurted out, “You look so much taller on TV!”
That’s nothing to do with being a small business owner though. There were years I had a small but very hard working staff, but since shortly ‘before the end times,’ it’s been just me in the studio with help from my son Skyler who manages product tool and supply packaging and shipping.
It’s just me creating all the artwork, running my Online School of Metalsmithing & Jewelry Design, managing this huge website, popping into your inbox periodically with emails that I write with my own brain (do I want AI to think for me???), and so much more. In a recent artist talk I gave, someone asked me if I spent more time creating or more time teaching. I replied that I spend most of my time at the computer doing the endless admin work that holds together everything I do!
