Snoopy Happy Dance – Feel the Frill Exhibit & Sale
It’s that time of year when we observe the sacred tradition of watching the A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. Truthfully, I hide out on Thanksgiving. At the risk of sounding like a real downer, I confess it’s not my favorite holiday. As a kid, it was like a dress rehearsal for Christmas so my maternal and paternal grandparents could be well equipped in time to fight and fuss over where we were spending time, with whom, for how long, who was serving what, where our loyalties lay, and other stupid drama.
My two sets of grandparents lived a whopping 20 minutes apart with our house nearly smack in between, so it’s not like we could say travel prevented us from being two places almost as once. In short, it was all the angst of Christmas without the cool presents. On the plus side, the food was amazing…twice…at lunch…usually about 1-1/2 hours apart. I was an adult before I learned more people in this country eat Thanksgiving dinner at, well, dinner time. Crazy.
But on the 2020 plus side, getting to hunker down with my immediate family and a slightly outside the box, locally sourced, gourmet meal kit is delightful and bears no sense of pandemic created sacrifice. We get to do things my husband and I never did when we were younger, like pairing fine wines with old cartoons, eating dessert first, reading in the quiet, or playing Rock Band on the Xbox with our son, while our dogs bark and hide from the noise of the drum sticks. We love making our own traditions!
Whatever you’re up to on Thursday and wherever you are, please know that I’m thankful you take time to read the stories behind the scenes and look deeply at my artwork. There is so very much noise on the internet and so many things to scroll. It means the world to me that you spend a little of your time here.
I’m truly honored to have my Artwork, Curves in the Right Places II be part of the exhibit
