When Small Equals Long
There is a crazy, and very wrong, idea that smaller things are faster to make, as if scale were the arbiter of time. True, super large artwork can take ages, but every time I move back to a small scale, I get to remember that tinier equals painstaking and exacting, which can easily take just as long.
There is something quite magical, however, about downsizing into a miniature realm. When I began designing this set for a very special person, I knew she’d love what I made, but I also knew she’d only wear it if the overall size of each piece was very small, which, as I might have guessed, extended the time they took. While the details of my work are frequently incredibly small, they are more often held within a larger design. This was worth the challenge.

One a Previous Note
I messed up the links to the owl antics in my last newsletter. Baby barred owlets Leia and Rey have mostly fledged now though they still come back here for the stellar chipmunk cuisine.
