The Celestial Collection

From stardust we are fired and scattered, aggregated and evolved, only to spend our limited existence seeking to aggregate, create, and evolve quickly before the light burns away back into stardust.

My passion for astronomy goes all the way to my childhood desire to be an astronaut . I find infinite connections to the cosmos through my designs and my materials. The metal and minerals in my work were literally once colliding star-stuff; in each opal I see a nebula, each drusy a glittering star, each spiral a reminder of our galaxy, and all of it joined together by the power of fire.

The Transformation Collection

The sacred arch that links one space to the next

I have long had a fascination with sacred architecture. I see the endless mystery of creation in spaces as varied as the Lascaux caves, ancient Egyptian temples, high Gothic cathedrals, the Hagia Sophia Mosque, and the erotic temples of India. Archways and domes exist as transformational symbols of renewal, rebirth, reflection, and reunion; they are also undeniably feminine. In the Transformation collection, I abstract these archways and architectural forms into small scale objects that can be worn or held close to the heart.

The Prospera Collection

Working with metal is magic, a constant cycle of chaos and order as objects that did not exist come into being.

I love creating pieces that are reminiscent of what a Medieval alchemist might have owned, objects of power and insight, designed to illuminate the wearer’s way. I am enthralled by Shakespeare’s The Tempest, especially the production with a gender flipped Prospera as the duchess and mother of Miranda, rather than Prospero the duke and father. I imagine the objects that wildly powerful Prospera might have worn as she consulted her magical texts and wove her ultimate spells. I offer the work in this collection that you might wear to create your own magic.

The Evolution Collection

This is nature, powerful, persistent and ever unfolding.

The swirl of ever moving water, the flick of a fishtail in my pond, the unfurling of a fern frond,  and tThe long, elegant aspidistra leaves on my grandmother’s porch…these are the inspiration behind the Evolution Series. As I transform nature’s lines into metal, they curve and wind as if they could grow beyond the object, embracing one who wears them.

The Jazz Collection

Glamorous and gutsy, sultry and swinging, technically difficult, yet it sounds effortless…

Jazz is the art form that has pulled together my diverse influences as far back as I can remember. Like being a good musician, being a metalsmith takes immense skill – as well as the ability to improvise when ideas and plans inevitably change midstream. Lines can meander, converge, and take off, but ultimately they resolve into compelling music. Jazz is the soundtrack of my soul.
