My Secret at Last
First some big news…that shouldn’t really change anything.
I have changed how you receive these emails from Mailchimp to Convertkit to better serve you, my very dear and loyal readers, and to make my life just tiny bit saner. You still have the ability to update your subscription preferences or unsubscribe (I’d miss you!). If I’ve landed in your spam folder, I hope you’ll drag me out to the light of day, add my email to your contacts, and continue to enjoy the bi-weekly peek into my artwork and creative process.
…And now the secret
I’ve always been happy with my name…except for two things. First, occasionally people will substitute another name beginning with a V without even noticing they’ve called me by the wrong name. Virginia, Vivian, Veronica…I’ve asked people with those names if the same thing happens to them. They affirm they are often mistakenly called Victoria. It’s an odd sort of consolation.
The second annoying thing is that I used to be asked, “What’s your secret?” usually by unenlightened men who thought it was cute to reference the popular lingerie store found in many shopping malls…As if anything about me could ever fit with shopping mall culture. Mercifully, this obnoxious query stopped some years ago. (There are definitely advantages to being over 50.)
