Forged, from the Mists of the Mountains
When I was trading skills with my friend Rauni Higson in Wales this past December, the wonderful women from Little Metal Foxes asked me back for Tool Tip Tuesdays, this time to help Rauni give a studio tour. It’s a chance to see her incredible work up close in a relaxed setting.
Enjoy!
If you’ve always wanted to learn how I create physics defying filigree, this is your last chance for a long while.
In my 3D Filigree course, we leave flat and domed behind and dive into what it takes to bend filigree to your will by first designing the complex structures and then adapting how to fill them without all the filler wires popping out.
The only prerequisites for this course are a willingness to try cool things and a basic knowledge of how to do any open-backed, tension fitted type of filigree whether Russian, Yemenite, Mexican, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, or…you get the idea. You do not have to have previously studied filigree with only me!
As long as you know how to build a frame and make those little twisted and milled filler wires or coils stay in place until you solder them, this class is for you! Unlike the “cram all the learning into a day or a weekend” way most of us have taught for years, I give you space and time to watch and apply what you’ve learned with daily support plus plenty of live Zoom time.
