Instructional Videos
If I buy your DVD, CAN I stream the video and watch it on my ipad?
No. DVDs and streaming video editions are sold separately. The DVDs are physical copies and will not play on anything but DVD players or computers with built-in DVD drives. To watch (download or stream) the videos on your iPad or other mobile device, please purchase the editions sold through Vimeo.
It’s just like if you bought Star Wars IV on DVD from Amazon. Watching it on your iPad would require a separate purchase.
Trust me when I say you probably can’t fathom how much work it was or time I spent remastering and formatting 10+ hours of my video content to be streamable via Vimeo on Demand. It’s not some quick upload from my Mac. It took years. Thanks for understanding and for not asking me if you can have free access to the streaming content because you bought a DVD by mistake! Please choose carefully. You’ll be happier, and I’ll have more time to make all that artwork you love.
I don’t have any Apple devices or a Mac. Can I get All chained up or Giving Voice on something else?
You can get Giving Voice as a stunning, full color, hardbound, print edition. A second print edition of All Chained UP with be available in 2020. (You can still score an older edition of ACU on Amazon.)
I bought your video, but it won’t play on my comupter/tv/tablet (or skips, is missing audio, or acts weird)
Thank you for purchasing the video. I’m so sorry you’ve experienced difficulty with the download! All of the downloading and streaming happens between Vimeo’s website, your internet connection, and your computer/device, which, alas, is beyond my superpowers to control, but let me suggest a few things that may help:
Try watching it in streaming mode directly from Vimeo when your device is connected to the internet. If you are experiencing the same difficulties, then I would guess there is a problem with the speed of your connection to the internet. For that, you will need to connect your internet service provider. If there is no problem, then something must have gone wrong with the download.
Try downloading the video again. Depending on what you’re watching on, this may require trashing your download first so you don’t get a message saying you’ve already downloaded the video.
Your purchase gives you permanent access/downloadability/streaming for life. If you have another device, like a Roku or Apple TV or anything that has a Vimeo app or access, try watching it on there to see if it behaves differently. If it does not, it is likely a problem with the connection to the internet.
If you don’t have another device to try, you can login to your Vimeo account on a friend’s device (iPhone, Android phone, Apple TV, iPad, computer, etc. They will all work with Vimeo.)
If none of these things solve the problem, you will need to contact Vimeo at https://vimeo.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/categories/202594617-Watching-Videos so they can help you get it working on their end.
iMakeJewelry app
Will you ever release an android versions of your app, imakejewelry?
I tried for years to figure out how, but alas, the answer is no. The reason is that Android apps are extremely easily pirated. Investing thousands of dollars in a complete rewrite of the app on another platform and making zero money might work for huge companies but not for solo artists. Sorry! Wish things were different.
eBooks
Why are many of your ebooks apple only?
Because Kindle will not support the complex layouts of books with multiple videos. Believe me, I’ve tried to solve this. If Amazon ever makes it possible to create reliable books with videos in their proprietary file format, I’ll add creating Kindle editions of Giving Voice and All Chained Up to my insanely long list of projects.
Will Volumes 2 and 3 the SNAG Links books ever be available in print (or on other platforms)?
I would love to say yes. Volumes 2 and 3 were supposed to be print books as well. Do me a huge favor and email the good folks at SNAG to ask this question. It will remind them that that was part of the plan and their commitment to a massively huge project that I did for free to benefit the organization. As for Kindle versions, please see the answer to the question right above this one.
Workshops and private lessons
Will you come teach for our school/guild/arts organiztion?
Thanks for asking! I have pivoted to teaching exclusively online through my own school.
Do you offer private lessons?
If you are interested in one-to-one coaching after taking one of my courses or working through the projects in my books and videos, please contact me. Please note that I do not offer private lessons or coaching in basic jewelry making.
Do you allow studio visits?
Yes, via Zoom. I’m happy to show artwork or give virtual studio tours to interested collectors and curators. Please contact me to set up a time.
Commission and Custom artwork
Do you do commission work?
Yes, I create commissions pieces of all sizes within my style and techniques and with a minimum starting budget of $1800. The total cost depends on the scope of the project, the time required to create it, and the materials.
It helps to know as much as possible about what you’re looking for. Letting me know any or all of the following really helps get the ball rolling: which of my pieces spoke to you, the type of work desired (necklace, room divider, painting, calligraphy, tattoo design, etc.), size or size limitations, type of metal, stones, or materials, when you need it, the occasion (if for a special occasion), and your budget.
Commissioned artwork is a unique collaboration between the collector and me. Utilizing my masterful skill set and my unique style while working to fulfill other people’s dreams often leads to creating amazing art that is beyond what anyone might expect.
On the other hand, if you’re looking for someone to custom make another artist’s designs, Frodo’s ring, or that cool Ankh dagger from the David Bowie movie The Hunger, I’m not your artist. Thanks for understanding!
