Jewelry Rendering in Colored Pencil Workshop

Want to draw your designs? Think you can’t draw? Think again! Learn the art of creating realistic renderings of your jewelry and metalsmithing designs in colored pencil. Learn how to shade objects to look 3-dimentional. No drawing or rendering experience necessary.

9" x 12" pad of Strathmore Bristol board, 300 weight smooth

Tracing paper

Lead holder, drafting style pencil, Art Alternatives is a nice inexpensive brand

pack of 2B lead to fit lead holder,

Rotary lead pointer (or mini lead pointer)

Regular pencil sharpener

Prismacolor or Progresso colored pencils in the following colors: (Please note that the Progresso pencils are wonderful for blending but not available in all the shades of gray you will need.)

warm gray dark

warm gray 70%

warm gray medium

light gray dark

black

white (White colored pencil by Progresso is best for blending)

burnt umber

yellow ochre

canary yellow

your choice of red, blue, green, purple, for drawing stones

You may wish to purchase a basic set to get the colors plus black and white. The grays and possibly the burnt umber will probably need to be purchased individually.

6" or 12" non slip ruler

French curve

Circle template

Square template

Please also bring a piece of already made jewelry for practice drawing in class.
